Review of "The Greatest Speech Ever" on NetGalley

January 3, 2014 — Print this Page

The following review is (c)2013 to its writer, Peter Skelly.

“The author superbly uses the background of the Gettysburg Address to develop a biographical portrait of Lincoln. In doing so he shows how the composition of the speech was shaped.

“The best part of the book was the portrayal of the history of the five hand written versions ... the book itself does give a well researched summary of Lincoln’s life.

“The organization of these facts wrapped into the history of the speech ... I found it very entertaining.”
